Business Development involves strategy, product knowledge and deals.
Here are 3 key steps for Strategic Business Development:
1. Make sure you know your Company Product well, be it a consumer or technology product. By well, we mean, you should be able to do calls without too much involvement with product, design or support teams.
2. You should have some knowledge of contracts. Or, even some knowledge of creative deal structuring. You don't need to be an expert in these areas. But, make sure you know your Company’s interests.
3. Make sure your Company wants to do the deal. Believe it or not, different teams or people in your Company may not collectively agree to it. Deals worth doing require major financial and product support.
