Kap Ocean Team had the pleasure to attend the Ohio Artificial Intelligence (AI) Forum on August 2, 2023, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The event was presented by OhioX + InnovateOhio. The purpose of the forum was to discuss the transformative impact of AI on Ohio. The forum explored how our educators, companies, and ideas will shape the future of the Buckeye State.
Featured Speakers included Lt. Governor Jon Husted; Dr. Neville G. Pinto, President at University of Cincinnati; Mike Venerable, President and CEO at CincyTech and Pete Blackshaw; President and CEO at Cintrifuse.
Lt. Governor Husted explained that he wanted to keep innovation going in Ohio. Lt Governor also mentioned that AI was used in general assembly to identify ways to eliminate 2.9 million words of regulatory code in State of Ohio and to move in person and paper process to digital ones. This resulted in saving millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of hours, the Lt. Governor said. Work Collaboration for a force of good was also mentioned. One of the points was to rebuild startup economy and policy for investment in companies in Ohio. It was explained that Cincytech has around 10 companies which are AI focused.
Founders of companies from Ohio made presentations regarding their AI innovation and productions. These companies were from Voxel, Narratize, and Native.
The topic of the first panel was AI in Industry, Business and Economic Development. Moderator was Chris Berry at OhioX. Speakers included representatives from 84.51˚, Fifth Third Bank, Procter & Gamble, Microsoft and Total Quality Logistics. It was discussed that AI can drive increased access, bridge gaps and become less scary for people.
The second panel was titled AI in Education and Workforce. Lt. Governor Husted was the moderator. Speakers included professors from Miami University and University of Cincinnati. Other speakers included representatives from KPMG, AWS, and from Cincinnati Children's Hospital. The panel discussed empowering Ohioans for school and education purposes. One common theme was talent and needing the best minds in Ohio. The panel also focused on prompt engineering while pointing out that you have to learn how to ask good questions.
